Day care van involved in North Strabane crash

1 min read

A day care transport van carrying a 6-year-old boy crashed Thursday afternoon in North Strabane Township, although no one was seriously injured.

Township police said the World of Wonders Day Care van driven by Melissa Henderson was traveling east in the 600 block of Linnwood Drive about 12:30 p.m. when the van and a pickup truck heading in the other direction collided, sideswiping each other.

Both vehicles were heavily damaged and towed from the scene, police said. Henderson, 50, of Claysville, was taken to Canonsburg Hospital with minor injuries and released, police said. The driver of the pickup truck, Terrence Wright, 48, of South Fayette, was not injured, police said.

The 6-year-old North Strabane boy, who attends the day care at 2106 Washington Road in the township, also was not injured, police said.

Investigators are not sure which vehicle crossed the center line and said icy road conditions likely contributed to the crash.
