Area man sentenced to prison for child porn
A Fallowfield Township man accused of downloading more than 1,000 child pornography photos and videos onto his cellphone, some of which investigators said contained sex acts involving toddlers, was sentenced to 4 to 6 years in prison.
Cody Alan Gadd, 22, of 909 Fourth St. Ext., pleaded guilty and was sentenced June 22 before Washington County Judge John F. DiSalle. Gadd pleaded guilty to 10 counts of possession of child pornography.
Gadd was arrested June 17, 2014, following a two-month investigation by the state attorney general’s office. Investigators said the files were downloaded onto the cellphone using a Dropbox application registered with Gadd’s name and email address Dec. 2, 2013. Investigators received a report April 15, 2014, from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that Gadd’s account was flagged by Dropbox for suspicious activity.
Most of the files in the Dropbox account included explicit videos and images of girls younger than 17 performing sex acts with adult men, investigators said. One photo was of a girl 2 to 4 years old, investigators said.
Agents with the attorney general’s office went to Gadd’s home, which he shared with his brother and mother, and seized his cellphone, computer tablet and computer notebook to be examined.
Gadd cooperated with investigators, court documents show, although he initially told them he downloaded motocross photos onto his phone.
Investigators said he later admitted to them that he was trading pornography files using his cellphone.
In addition to the prison term, Gadd was sentenced to 10 years of probation. He also was ordered not to have contact with minors and must register with Megan’s Law.
Gadd was to report June 29 to Washington County jail to begin his sentence.
