State Rep. Pam Snyder, D-Jefferson, will be presenting a citation to the Jefferson-Morgan girls softball team at 6 p.m. Thursday at the high school’s softball field in Jefferson to honor its WPIAL championship. The community is invited to congratulate the team. Local and state officials have been invited to attend.
A free concert will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday on the lawn of Greene Academy on North Market Street in Carmichaels. The band from Carmichaels American Legion Post No. 400 will perform. If the weather is not cooperative, the concert will be moved to the American Legion post home on South Street.
Waynesburg High School Class of 1950 will hold its 65th reunion Saturday at Waynesburg University’s Benedum Hall. Social hour will be at 4 p.m., group pictures at 5 p.m. and dinner at 5:30 p.m. On Sunday, breakfast will be at 9 a.m. at Laverne’s Restaurant.
A country music concert will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the New Freeport Fire Hall with performances by Ben Tharpe and Larry Santee. Admission is $4 and the event is sponsored by the fire department’s ladies auxiliary.
The Warrior Trail Association will hold a combined meeting with Point Marion Rotary Club at the Greensboro Fire Hall, the former Catholic church, in Greensboro at 6:30 p.m. July 16. The fire company auxiliary will cater the meal that will include stuffed cabbage, mashed potatoes, green beans, dessert and drinks. Cost is $10 a person. Proceeds with benefit the fire department. Those planning to attend are asked to call Dianne Brozich at 724-943-3737 so the group know how many will attend. The speaker will be West Virginia University professor Dwight Harshbarger, who has written novels based on West Virginia industrial history.
