Teen shot in shoulder in South Strabane

1 min read

A 16-year-old Pittsburgh boy was treated at Washington Hospital and released after he was shot in the shoulder in South Strabane Township Tuesday night.

Police Chief Don Zofchak said the location of the incident is not clear, but the shooting likely occurred in the area of Locust and Wilbert avenues, since the boy indicated it happened near a park. Driscoll Park is off Locust near Wilbert.

Police were called to the hospital just after 9 p.m. The boy apparently was dropped off at the hospital by an unknown person. The 16-year-old gave police various versions of what happened. He told police he came to Washington to see a girl he met through social media, and that he was robbed and shot.

A doctor told police the boy suffered a superficial wound when the bullet ricocheted off his shoulder.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-225-8111.
