Fire heavily damages Fredericktown home
A grease fire caused heavy damage to a Fredericktown home Saturday afternoon and sent two people to the hospital, and they were released after being treated for smoke inhalation.
Two people were inside the home at 4 East Alley at the time of the fire, which ignited on a kitchen stove about 3:30 p.m., according to fire Chief Jim Starkey of the East Bethlehem Township Volunteer Fire Department. Starkey said the Price family was able to rescue their dogs from the home, but two people suffered from smoke inhalation.
The fire spread to the dining room and attic, and it caused about $60,000 worth of damage, Starkey said. The American Red Cross of Western Pennsylvania is providing shelter, food and clothing to four members of the Price family.
