Christiana and Ortitay to hold concealed weapons seminar
State Reps. Jim Christiana, R-Beaver, and Jason Ortitay R-South Fayette, will be sponsoring a concealed weapons educational event to give residents an opportunity to learn about Pennsylvania’s concealed carry laws.
The seminar will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m.Aug.13, at the Avella Volunteer Fire Department, 1560 Avella Road.
“This event will give citizens a chance to learn more about their rights so they can be confident in their interactions with others,” Ortitay said. “These events tend to be popular and fill up quickly, so be sure to RSVP.”
During the event, Washington County District Attorney Eugene Vittone will discuss the implications of the state’s concealed carry laws and how the state’s Castle Doctrine affects the rights of gun owners. The Avella Volunteer Fire Department will have food and beverages available for purchase.
“There are a lot of misconceptions about Pennsylvania’s concealed carry laws, and the purpose of this event is to give people the facts,” Christiana added. “We will be joined by informative speakers, and there will be an opportunity for participants to ask questions.”
The event is free, but space is limited. Residents of the 46th District should RSVP by calling Ortitay’s office at 412-221-5110. Individuals residing in the 15th District should call Christiana’s office at 724-728-4655 to register.
