Woman flown to hospital from county aquatics center
WAYNESBURG – A young woman was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital after suffering a medical issue shortly after 1 p.m. Thursday at Greene County Aquatics Center.
The woman, who has disabilities, was in the pool with a caregiver when she began having problems, said Jeff Marshall, Greene County chief clerk. The woman, whose name was not released, was removed from the water and treated by pool staff and private citizens until an ambulance arrived on scene. She was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital.
Jake Blaker, county director of parks and recreation, said he talked to the woman’s caregiver late Thursday afternoon and was told the woman was in good condition and was being kept at the hospital overnight for observation.
Blaker, who was at the pool when the incident ocurred, said the pool staff did an excellent job in handling the situation.
