Area woman pleads guilty to robbery
WAYNESBURG – A Jefferson woman pleaded guilty Tuesday to robbing the Community Bank in Rogersville more than two years ago and was sentenced to 1 to 7 years in prison.
Amanda Lynn Black, 25, of 224 Washington St., pleaded guilty before Greene County Judge Farley Toothman to all charges against her in connection with the March 19, 2013 armed robbery in which she and another woman got away with $3,275.
Black also pleaded guilty to charges she burglarized Fox Bus Garage in Franklin Township Jan. 7, 2013, during which she stole a safe containing about $25,000. Black worked as a driver for the bus company at the time.
Black confessed to committing the crimes, state police said, claiming she was “hooked on heroin.”
State police said Black entered the bank on Route 21 at 3:27 p.m., her face covered with a mask, and handed the teller a hand-written note indicating it was an armed robbery.
She then got into a silver car allegedly driven by Jamie L. Burnfield and the two women left the area, police said. Burnfield, 38, of 307 Prison Road, Waynesburg, is now awaiting trial on one count of conspiracy to commit robbery.
As part of her plea agreement, Black was ordered to testify against Burnfield, should Burnfield’s case go to trial.
She also was ordered to pay $3,275 in restitution to Community Bank and was given credit for time served. Black has been in jail since her arrest April 29.
In regard to the burglary charge, Black was sentenced to 9 months to 2 years in jail, a sentence that will run concurrent to her sentence for robbery. She also was ordered to pay $27,100 in restitution to Fox White Barn LLC, the owner of the garage, or to its insurer.
