At the Salary Board meeting Wednesday, Andrew Lock had his hiring as a Greene County assistant district attorney approved.

The position was opened after the resignation of William Kozich, Jr. in April.

District Attorney, Marjorie Fox said the hiring process brought forth many qualified applicants.

Lock was chosen for many reasons, one being his background with the military.

“His military experience translates into dedication that will serve us well,” Fox said.

Lock is a native of Bethlehem. He attended Carnegie Mellon University on an Army ROTC Scholarship. After graduating in 2007, he continued his education at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and graduated in 2010. Later that same year, he was admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania. After only a year of practicing law, Lock decided to serve in the U.S. Army as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Officer assigned to the Yakima (Wash.) Training Center. After completion of his military duties, including a tour in Afghanistan, he returned to Pennsylvania.

Lock said he and his wife are looking forward to returning to Western Pennsylvania.

Fox said she believes he will be a good addition to the county.

“Assistants are tasked with a wide variety of responsibilities,” Fox said. “We all will assist one another on whatever is before us at the time, and each one of us have areas that we know more about and have dealt deeper in, so we will see what he has to bring.”

Lock stands prepared to serve the people of Greene County with the same vigor as he demonstrated with the U.S. Army, ensuring that their community remains a safe place to live, work, and raise a family.
