Police beat July 22
Card used: Christopher Crum of Johnson Road, Amwell, told state police last week his credit card was used without his permission to make purchases in Las Vegas.
Window damaged: James DeBaker of 611 Marple Ave. told Canonsburg police Monday vandals damaged the driver’s side window on his car.
Woman assaulted: Daniel W. Browning Jr., 43, of 950 Michigan Ave., Washington, is charged by state police with simple assault and harassment, accused of choking a woman in a residence in the 2,000 block of Pleasant Grove Road about 10 p.m. Monday. Browning is free on $5,000 bond set by District Judge Mark Wilson.
House burglarized: Kenneth Podlaszewski of Mosier Hill Road, East Finley, told state police Thursday items were stolen when his home was burglarized.
Crash: A vehicle driven by Anthony Gavatorta, 32, of Jeannette, struck a median and then hit a guard rail along I-70 east about 8:50 p.m. Monday. One lane of the highway was partially closed for about an hour. Gavatorta was uninjured, but state police said he will be cited with careless driving.
Two injured: Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash about 5:40 p.m. Monday on Route 19. North Strabane police said Karal Elizabeth Seibel, 58, of Huntington, W.Va., was driving north on Route 19 when she struck the rear of a pickup truck driven by Mark A. Mikec, 58, of 111 Willow Drive, McMurray. Seibel and a passenger in her vehicle, Constance Thwaite of Bethel Park, were taken to Canonsburg Hospital for treatment.
Assault alleged: Donald Knupp, 28, of 246 E. Prospect St., Washington, will be charged by Washington police with simple assault after he allegedly struck Shasjountee Avery, 31, of 345 Shirls Ave., in the head and neck early Tuesday during a confrontation at her home. He also allegedly trashed the inside of the house. Police said Knupp was gone when officers arrived. Avery refused treatment.
Window damaged: Lindsey Brogley of Claysville told Washington police the windshield of her vehicle was damaged when a woman threw an object at it as she drove near the intersection of Fayette Street and McCarrell Avenue about 11 p.m. Monday.
Vehicles damaged: Washington police said three vehicles parked behind 87 E. Maiden St. Monday were damaged by vandals.
Truck damaged: Jody Emery of Prosperity told Washington police Monday his Confederate flag license plate was ripped off his pickup truck while it was parked at Tri-State Supply, 371 W. Chestnut St. The truck also was dented. Police said surveillance shows three men doing the damage.
Gun stolen: Melvin McMillan-Walker of Harrisburg told Washington police Monday a .45-caliber Glock handgun, a case and two magazines for the weapon were stolen from his luggage while he was visiting a relative at 766 Ewing St. He discovered the theft when he returned home. He purchased the gun Friday from Route 19 EZ-Cash.
Humidifiers stolen: Two Frigidaire humidifiers were reported stolen Monday from Sprowls Appliance, 996 W. Chestnut St.
Generator stolen: George Brautigam Sr. of 955 Summerlea Ave. told Washington police Monday a red Troybilt generator was stolen from his porch.
Pipes, wires stolen: Jim Naser of Washington told Washington police Monday copper pipes were stolen, electrical wires were stripped and a hot water tank was cut at a house on Shaw Avenue.
