Route 844 in Canton to be closed.

A section of Route 844 (Jefferson Avenue) will be closed between Route 331 (Wellsburg Road) and Smiley Road in Canton Township. Work begins on Aug. 3 and continue through Sept. 30. The closure will be in place to allow a bridge to be replaced, according to the state Department of Transportation.

A marked detour will be in place utilizing Route 844 (Jefferson Avenue), Route 231 (Scenic Drive), Route 50 (Avella Road) and Route 18.
