37 indicted in large-scale drug ring
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) – Authorities said 37 people have been indicted in northeast Ohio for their involvement in a drug trafficking organization.
The Ohio Attorney General’s Office said in a statement Tuesday the 37 are charged in a 261-count indictment returned by a grand jury in Mahoning County. The indictment came after an investigation by a multiagency drug task force.
The drug ring’s alleged 32-year-old leader and 12 other higher-ups in the organization have been charged with racketeering, trafficking in heroin, trafficking in cocaine and money laundering.
Other charges in the indictment include possession of heroin, possession of cocaine, felonious assault, receiving stolen property, improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle and possession of marijuana.
The statement said some of the 37 suspects have been arrested.
