PENFIELD (AP) – Police and a coroner were trying to figure out why a 71-year-old man’s pickup truck crossed the center line of a Western Pennsylvania highway and crashed head-on into a car, killing himself and both people in the car.

Police said 71-year-old William Tyler, of Weedville, was northbound when his 2015 Chevrolet Silverado hit the southbound 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by 50-year-old Jeffery Jacob, of St. Marys on Route 255. That happened Tuesday about 5:30 p.m. in Huston Township, Clearfield County, about 110 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.

Both men were killed as was Jacob’s passenger, his 84-year-old aunt, Ruth Buganza, also of St. Mary’s.

State troopers from DuBois and the Clearfield County coroner said Jacob’s vehicle burst into flames on impact.
