DUNLO (AP) – A 6-year-old girl has been killed after being thrown from an all-terrain vehicle driven by a 16-year-old.

The Cambria County coroner’s office says the girl died of severe head and neck injuries from the crash about 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Adams Township. That’s about 70 miles east of Pittsburgh.

Coroner Jeffrey Lees says the girl was thrown from the vehicle when the driver lost control of the ATV on a hill.

The child died at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown.

Authorities have yet to release the name of the dead girl or the driver, nor said whether the driver may face criminal charges. The investigation was continuing and the coroner didn’t immediately return a call Friday.

The child was to begin first grade at Forest Hills Elementary School next month.
