A Monongahela man was arrested early Saturday by Carroll Township after he allegedly assaulted his pregnant wife during a argument when he threw a goldfish bowl with a fish inside out a vehicle window.

Calvin Edward Davis, 27, of 991 Route 837, was taken into custody after the 2:30 a.m. confrontation.

April Davis originally called police claiming she was being held hostage. When police arrived at their home, she reportedly told police the two got into an argument on the way home. She told police she was driving.

During the argument, Calvin Davis allegedly tossed their child’s goldfish bowl and goldfish out of the window as she drove on Route 88 near Monongahela Country Club in Carroll. April Davis told police she stopped the vehicle and got out to retrieve the fish bowl. Her husband also got out of the vehicle, allegedly grabbed her and dragged her across the pavement, police said. April Davis reportedly had a large abrasion on her lower back, as well as abrasions on both of her knees, left elbow, middle of her back and left shoulder.

Calvin Davis reportedly let his wife go, got into the vehicle and drove off, leaving her to walk home, police said. Once she got home, her husband was waiting outside for her. He then allegedly dragged her to the ground and got on top of her so she would not be able to tell anyone what happened, police said.

April Davis, who police said is seven months pregnant, was taken to Jefferson Hospital in Jefferson Hills, Allegheny County, for treatment.

Davis was arraigned before District Judge Joshua Kanalis on charges of simple assault and harassment. He was placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 6 before District Judge Mark Wilson.
