CHARLEROI

Woman arrested: Amber Jo Neidermeyer, 35, of 79 Allen Ave., Donora, was arrested Friday night by Charleroi Regional police on charges of possession of paraphernalia and heroin after she was found sitting in her vehicle in the 400 block of Fallowfield Avenue partially on the road. Police said there was a syringe on the driver’s seat under her and another in the door. Police also found empty stamp bags of suspected heroin and a full stamp bag of the suspected drug in a pack of cigarettes she was holding. Another syringe was found in her bra. She was arraigned before District Judge Joshua Kanalis and placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.

FALLOWFIELD

Two motorcyclists injured: Frank J. Smelko, 24, of Belle Vernon, and Betty J. Natoli, 41, of Pricedale, were injured about 12:30 a.m. Saturday when the motorcycles they were riding collided on Interstate 70 eastbound near the Centerville/Monongahela exit. Police said Smelko was riding in the right lane at high speed when he drove into the slower moving motorcycle operated by Natoli. Both were thrown from their motorcycles with his coming to rest on top of Natoli. Both were flown to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Smelko was cited for failing to drive at a safe speed. Natoli will be cited with having an improper class of license.

McDONALD

Charged in stop: Anthony John Scarfone, III, 45, of 8180 Steubenville Pike, McDonald, was charged Friday by McDonald police with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia and failure to use his turn signal stemming from a July 18 traffic stop at Third Street and West Lincoln Avenue. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of Senior District Judge Jay Dutton.

SOUTH STRABANE

Theft, receiving charges: Virginia Marie Helmick, 50, of 441 Extension Ave., Washington, was arrested Saturday morning by South Strabane police on charges of felony retail theft, receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said she allegedly stole two faucets valued at $243 from Lowe’s, Strabane Square. Police also found her with a cut blue straw containing a white residue. She was arraigned before District Judge Joshua Kanalis and placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.
