‘Empty Bowls’ raises money for food
Several women look at artistic bowls during the Empty Bowls project, which raised $3,652 for the Community Foundation of Greene County for its Weekend Food Program Fund.
The money was raised through tickets, donations and silent auction bids from the Empty Bowls event held April 19 at the Greene County Fairgrounds and conducted by a group of Bonner Scholar students from Waynesburg University.
Rebecca Shindelar, coordinator of the Empty Bowls project, presented a check to the Community Foundation earlier this month.
Shindelar and a team of students worked throughout the entire school year to plan and implement this event, and in the process learned about the Weekend Food Program and hunger in Greene County.
