Burgettstown man to get life in prison for murder

1 min read

WELLSBURG, W.Va. (AP) — A Burgettstown man convicted of killing a West Virginia man faces life in prison without parole.

A Brooke County Circuit Court jury Monday recommended no mercy for 30-year-old Rocco Zuccaro, meaning he won’t be eligible for parole.

Zuccaro was convicted of first-degree murder Friday in the February 2013 fatal shooting of 30-year-old Jason Pratz at Pratz’s home in McKinleyville.

Zuccaro escaped in March from William R. Sharpe Jr. Hospital in Weston, where he was undergoing a psychiatric evaluation. He was captured several days later.

Media outlets report a judge set Zuccaro’s formal sentencing for Sept. 1.
