Man charged with second-degree murder in Weirton slaying
WEIRTON, W.Va. (AP) – Weirton police have charged a man with second-degree murder in the death of another man whose body was found in a creek.
Weirton police chief Rob Alexander tells media outlets that “good, old-fashioned police work” led to Wednesday’s arrest of 47-year-old Carl Brent Chain.
Chain is charged with killing 58-year-old Darrell Daugherty. Daugherty’s body was found in Harmon Creek last week.
Police are awaiting the results of an autopsy.
Alexander says Chain and Daugherty were acquaintances.
Chain is being held without bond at the Northern Regional Jail.
