Concert attendee arrested for assault
A 19-year-old man attending a J. Cole concert at First Niagara Pavilion on Thursday turned violent when questioned about the beer he was drinking, according to Hanover Township police.
Ethan Lamont Martin, 19, of 610 Mulberry St., Sewickley, allegedly charged at Officer Maria Cuccaro and attempted to punch her in the face after she asked him to follow her to another area. She asked him for his identification after seeing him holding a beer, and he replied he did not have it.
Two security guards and two police officers pulled Martin to the ground and attempted to place him in handcuffs. Martin fought back and refused to place his hands behind his back, police said.
While being transported to a holding trailer at the concert venue, Martin allegedly continued to resist officers and yelled obscenities at them, shouting, “It took six of you to take me down.”
He was placed in leg shackles inside the holding area, where he continued to resist officers, police said. A police officer pulled out his Taser and gave Martin a warning, which caused him to calm down, police said.
Martin allegedly told police he often gets angry and physically violent when he is drunk. He was charged with aggravated assault, harassment, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, purchase of alcohol by a minor, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.
He was arraigned by District Judge Robert Redlinger and taken to Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.
