BROWNSVILLE – The Fayette County coroner’s office was called Tuesday morning to investigate the discovery of a body in the Monongahela River in Brownsville in the area where a local man was last seen early Sunday.

The office of Coroner Phillip E. Reilly was summoned to Water Street at 11 a.m., his spokeswoman said.

Members of South Brownsville Fire Co. No. 1 have been searching the area for Thomas Aron Bush, 25, of Brownsville, who was reported missing by his family, said Stefani Lucas, spokeswoman for state police in Uniontown.

Reilly’s office had yet to confirm the identity of the body that was pulled from the river Tuesday.

Lucas said police had no specific information that Bush had gone into the river. It was searched due to the proximity to where he was last seen, Lucas said.

He was last seen in woods behind South Brownsville Fire Hall at 530 Water St., she said.
