Officials consider cameras for park

WAYNESBURG – The Greene County Commissioners, at a brief agenda meeting Wednesday, agreed to place on the agenda for today the approval of a contract to install security cameras at Mon View Park and pool.

The bid for security equipment was submitted by Vicon Industries for $20,236 and includes installation of 16 cameras and software, said Jeff Marshall, chief clerk.

The county last year completed the renovation of the park and pool. It now has similar security systems at pools in Waynesburg and Wana B Park, Marshall said. The system will be paid for with Act 13 money.

The commissioners also are expected to award a contract for bus transportation for the county’s day camp program.

The bid specification call for five buses a day to transport young people to the county day camps. The camps this year are at the Jefferson Township Park in Jefferson, Lions Club Park in Waynesburg, Mon View Park in Greensboro and Wana B Park in Carmichaels.

The day camps run from June 15 through July 24.

The contract also includes bus transportation for two field trips to Nemacolin Woodlands, which will be part of this year’s day camp program.

The commissioner will also consider increasing the county’s contribution to the Lions Club’s annual July 4 celebration by $2,000. The county’s current contribution is $3,000.
