Police beat June 8
Theft charges: David Girimonte, 29, who is believed to be homeless, and Edward Stonick, 29, of 326 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, were charged by Charleroi police with theft and theft from a motor vehicle for allegedly attempting to break into vehicles on the 500 block of Washington Avenue aabout 12:45 a.m. Saturday. Girimonte also was charged with public drunkenness. Girimonte was arraigned by District Judge Robert Redlinger, and Stonick was turned over to an adult probation officer for a parole detainer. Both were taken to Washington County jail on a $5,000 bond.
Assault charge: Michael John Shaffer, 42, of Avella, was charged by state police with simple assault and harassment for allegedly punching Julie McCabe, of Ohio, and throwing her to the ground at 21 Geno Lane about midnight Sunday. Police said she had a black eye, bloody nose and multiple bruises on her body. Shaffer was arraigned by District Judge Robert Redlinger and placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.
