Applications being accepted for Lamb and Wool Queen
Applications are being accepted for the 2015 Greene County Lamb and Wool Queen Contest, which will be held Aug. 10 in the livestock barn at the Greene County Fairgrounds.
The title-winning candidate will represent Greene County and the sheep and wool industry at various events throughout the year. Possible events include, but are not limited to, the 2015 Greene County Fair, the Pennsylvania Lamb and Wool Queen Contest in October and the Waynesburg Sheep and Fiber Fest in May 2016.
Candidates must be residents of Greene County; be 16 to 21 years of age as of Jan. 1 of this year; own sheep and be from an active sheep producing farm or have carried a 4-H or FFA sheep project in 2014.
Candidates also must wear a wool garment, an outfit, dress or skirt, during the contest.
Candidates will be evaluated on general knowledge of the industry, poise and speaking ability by a panel of judges through a prepared speech and a short interview session.
Candidates will also prepare a display board and table, six feet in length, that will be judged and voted on by the public.
