Woman arrested on forgery charges
Canonsburg police arrested a Canonsburg woman Tuesday and obtained an arrest warrant for a Langeloth woman on charges they used credit cards stolen in a May 17 burglary at a Chartiers Avenue home to make purchases of gift cards.
Angela Marie Lucci, 24, of 209 Perry Como St., was arraigned before District Judge David Mark on charges of forgery, receiving stolen property, access device fraud and conspiracy.
Mark also signed an arrest warrant on the same charges for Susan Lynn Phillips, 26, of 209 E. Second Ave., Langeloth.
The burglary victim, Teresa Bane, told police two credit cards were stolen from her home, along with 25 to 50 old coins and an iPod Touch. Police learned each of the cards was used at the Giant Eagle in Strabane Square, South Strabane Township, to make $500 in purchases.
Surveillance shows two women using the cards at a self-serve register to purchase gift cards, and police said Phillips used her Fuel Perks card.
Phillips reportedly told police that she took a friend to the store to exchange some gift cards. Lucci allegedly told police that she was just helping someone out and that “this girl” paid her $100 to show her how to exchange gift cards. At least one of the gift cards was exchanged at the Coinstar Exchange machine in the store. Police said store surveillance shows the two at the store’s customer service desk cashing in a Coinstar voucher.
Lucci was placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 24 before Mark.
