Chartiers-Houston to graduate 106
Chartiers-Houston High School will graduate 106 seniors at its commencement ceremony at 7 p.m. today at the high school.
Valedictorian is Garrett Wayne Grimm, salutatorian is Joshua A. Gray and honor graduate is Amy Lang.
Grimm is the son of Colin and Alicia Jankowski Wilson and Guy Wayne Grimm Jr.
Grimm received the Stinespring Scholarship, the wrestling awards for hardest worker and most valuable wrestler and the Range Resources award. He was captain of the varsity wrestling team and a member of the football and track teams. Grimm was also a member of the National Honor Society, Alchemist Club, Mathletes and the gifted program. He volunteered his time with the Washington Area Humane Society and Central Assembly of God Church.
Grimm will attend Penn State University in the honors program to major in chemical engineering.
Gray is the son of Allen and Elaine Gray.
He was awarded the Bucks for Bucs scholarship, Challenge Program’s STEM Award, All-Conference Academic Award and three scholarships from S&T. He was a member of the Southwest Varsity Academic Team, Alchemist Club, Catalyst Club, Mathletes, National Honor Society, chess club, Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science and the varsity football, baseball, and track teams. Gray is an Eagle Scout with four Eagle Palms who received the Order of the Arrow.
He plans to attend Missouri University of Science and Technology to pursue a degree in nuclear engineering.
Lang is the daughter of Thomas and Ruth Lang.
Lang received the Merit Scholarship from Grove City College. She also received the Bucks for Bucs Award from Chartiers-Houston Community. Lang was a member of the National Honor Society, Tri-M Musical Honor Society, PMEA Junior Honors Orchestra and the PMEA Honors Choir. She was also a part of the Chartiers-Houston marching and jazz bands, choir and ladies ensemble, and spring musicals. Gray was in the drama club, chess club and Youth Alive. She volunteered her time at the state Fish Commission trout stocking program and at the Chartiers-Houston Community Library.
Gray plans to attend Grove City College to major in computer science and participate in marching band.
