COLUMBUS, Ohio – Four people were killed and a teenage girl injured in a shooting at an Ohio home, police said Saturday.

A police dispatcher confirmed that four people were found dead in the Columbus home’s basement. She said the person found injured outside the home was a 16-year-old girl who wasn’t believed to be seriously injured.

Sgt. David Sicilian of the homicide squad told The Columbus Dispatch police feared the injured teen’s safety may be in danger with a suspect on the loose.

“We obviously have a homicidal suspect out here who’s not afraid to kill somebody. We need to quickly find out who that is or the persons responsible for this,” Sicilian said.

Police did not immediately identify a motive or suspect in the slayings.

Officers were searching the house and checking the neighborhood for witnesses on Saturday.

The shooting was reported around 7:30 a.m.

“It’s a pretty ugly scene inside,” Sicilian told the newspaper.

Investigators were asking anyone with information about the slayings to contact police.
