Marianna couple charged after boy, 3, found wandering

2 min read

A Marianna man and his wife face charges of endangering the welfare of children and reckless endangerment after police said his 3-year-old son was found wandering alone on a street in the borough late last month.

Joshua Ryan Milligan, 27, and Brandy Lynn Gray-Milligan, 35, both of 419 Oklahoma St., were charged earlier this month by state police after the boy reportedly was found wandering the streets unsupervised in the early afternoon of May 30.

State police were called after receiving a report from neighbors there was a little boy on Third Street. Police and several people canvassed the neighborhood, going door to door, trying to find where the boy lived. They eventually found the boy’s father.

Milligan told police he worked a night shift and was asleep. He reportedly told the trooper Gray-Milligan, the boy’s stepmother, was supposed to watch him. He told police when he woke up, he asked his wife where his son was and was told he was playing in a bedroom. Neither apparently was aware he was missing. Milligan told police he had partial custody of his son.

In court documents, police said when the couple was told the boy was missing for several hours, neither seemed particularly upset.

Washington County Children and Youth Services was contacted, and the boy was released to his biological mother.

The charges are being sent by summons from the office of District Judge Curtis Thompson. A preliminary hearing will be held later before Thompson.
