PITTSBURGH (AP) – Paramedics responding to a woman hit by a car had to take cover when shots rang out from a nearby Father’s Day cookout in Pittsburgh.

Police say at least one man was wounded, shot in the thigh Sunday about 9:30 p.m.

Police spokeswoman Sonya Toler says paramedics weren’t hurt, but were nearby when the shooting broke out in a park. Witnesses say hundreds were gathered for the annual event when two groups of men began arguing and shots were fired.

Police are hoping witnesses will help them find whoever fired the shots.

The one confirmed victim was in stable condition at Allegheny General Hospital.
