A chance Facebook encounter set Justin Seaman’s latest production endeavor into motion.

The Claysville native has spent several years making his lifelong dream – shooting his horror flick, “The Barn” – a reality. Now with a premiere date of Oct. 31, Seaman has been devising ways to market his project. Past promotional items include a board game, action figures and soon, a music video.

Seaman, his crew and the punk rock band, Rebel Flesh spent Saturday filming the music video on the set of “The Barn” in West Alexander.

While finding artists to provide music for the movie’s soundtrack, Seaman encountered the Austin, Texas-based band on Facebook. After seeing the film’s poster, the band allowed Seaman to use several of their songs and offered to write an original song for the movie. “Harvest” was composed in one night, lead vocalist Jeremiah Ingram said.

“I wrote it and recorded it in my bathroom that same night,” Ingram said. “We were in the studio within the month.”

Seaman said their initial interaction began in January and quickly progressed from there.

“The Barn” is an independent feature-length horror film set in the late 1980s on Halloween. Seaman said the film depicts a “crazy night.”

“They are on their way to a rock concert, and just happen to stop where a legend (known as The Barn) took place,” he said. “All hell breaks loose from there.”

The idea for the film came to Seaman in 1993. It has since been adapted. Seaman runs Nevermore Productions Films with his high school friends, and Nevermore Production Studio, a freelance videography company.

He’s pleased with the attention the movie has received over the last couple of months when the trailer and poster were released online. He hopes the music video will continue to draw attention and interested parties.

“This couldn’t go any better,” Seaman said of the experience. “Lots of cool people have gotten involved and are backing the project.”
