Cokeburg man charged with rape
A Cokeburg man is in the Washington County jail after police allege that he raped a woman June 15 while she slept.
Andrew J. England, 29, of 42 Madison St., was arrested Friday by state police after a woman claimed that England raped her while she was sleeping. The woman told police she managed to push England off and lock herself in the bathroom. She said she told England in the past that she did not like to be touched while she slept.
England told police that he was trying to wake the woman to have sex.
England was arraigned before District Judge Curtis Thompson on charges of rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual assault and indecent assault. He remains in the county jail on $10,000 bond.
