Corner Cupboard cooking competition
Carmichaels Area High School senior Isabel Garcia competes against Chef Bill Aupple in a Chopped style cooking competition at the Corner Cupboard Food Bank’s open house event Tuesday night.
Both contestants showed how gourmet meals can be created with everyday pantry items.
Garcia created her meal by using a box of Hamburger Helper as her base ingredient. Aupple used a box of Kraft macaroni and cheese to create a ratatouille meal with roasted cauliflower.
The Corner Cupboard Food Bank also gave tours of their warehouse, showing the senior boxes, emergency food areas and the different items that go into kids bags during the summer season.
