Driver injured in I-79 crash near Waynesburg
WAYNESBURG – One person was seriously injured this morning following a two-car crash on Interstate 79 near the Waynesburg exit.
The crash happened in the southbound lanes of the interstate shortly before 7:30 a.m., Waynesburg-Franklin fire Chief Jeff Marshall.
One driver had to be cut from his car and was flown by medical helicopter to an area hospital, Marshall said. He did not know the man’s identity or which hospital he was taken for treatment, but said his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. No one else was injured in the crash.
Crews closed one southbound lane for about an hour while state police investigated.
