Police: Man assaulted woman in wheelchair

1 min read

A Washington man was arrested Saturday on allegations he struck a woman in the head while he pushed her in a wheelchair in McDonald.

Andrew White, 43, of 970 Fayette St., was accused by borough police of assaulting the woman about 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the McDonald trail station on South McDonald Street after they began to argue because she wanted to go home, court records show.

White then fled on a bicycle and was later apprehended by McDonald police at a nearby residence.

He was charged with simple assault, public drunkenness, harassment and driving under the influence of alcohol and sent to Washington County jail on $25,000 bond set by District Judge Larry Hopkins.
