Development series for teachers planned at Waynesburg U.
WAYNESBURG – The Teaching with Primary Sources Program at Waynesburg University will hold a free professional development series for educators. Coaches Academy for Teachers will meet online each Tuesday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., beginning March 17 and running through April 21.
Coaches Academy for Teachers is an advanced TPS Level III course designed to help teachers develop the skills and knowledge to lead colleagues in using the free Library of Congress digitized sources effectively across the curriculum.
Participants earn up to 20 continuing education unit hours, with an option to earn 10 more post-course.
The online workshop is designed for educators to gain skills in how to apply a variety of teaching strategies to use primary sources effectively to engage students, develop higher-order thinking skills and address the Pennsylvania Common Core standards.
Educators also will develop knowledge of adult learning theory, peer coaching strategies and facilitation techniques.
The course will include live interactive audio chat sessions, peer collaboration and discussion, and independent reading and project development.
Participants who have not completed TPS Level I are asked to complete a prerequisite, TPS BASICS, before March 3. Login information is provided upon registration for Coaches Academy for Teachers.
