City man accused of threatening girlfriend during argument
A Washington man was arrested Sunday morning after he allegedly threatened his girlfriend during an argument at their home.
Wilco Lee McClain, 20, of 208 Lincoln Terrace, is accused of threatening Rodnaea Long. Police were called to the home about 8 a.m. when neighbors became concerned after hearing yelling coming from the apartment.
When police arrived, officers knocked on the door several times, announcing their presence.
After getting no response, they forced their way into the residence.
When Long came down from upstairs, police said she was visibly upset. Police said she looked frightened and had red marks on her body, but she told them McClain did not assault her.
Long told police that she and McClain had gotten into an argument earlier in the morning.
He left the apartment, but then later returned. When police went upstairs, they said they discovered McClain had a makeshift barricade, including a mattress and chairs, blocking the area. Police told him to put the couple’s infant son in a safe place and come downstairs.
McClain complied with police orders and was taken into custody. Police said they found drug paraphernalia hidden in a gas mask that was in a bedroom.
McClain is awaiting a preliminary hearing in April on charges including simple assault and harassment stemming from his arrest in late December after he allegedly confronted Long at work because he was angry he had to watch their child.
In the latest case, McClain was arraigned before District Judge David Mark on charges of terroristic threats and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
A preliminary hearing is set for March 18 before District Judge Robert Redlinger on the new charges.
