Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident on Route 19 in North Strabane Township at 4 p.m. Monday when a car and a pick-up truck collided.

North Strabane Township firefighters said the car was turning left from Zeman Road near Frankie I’s Bar and Grille onto the northbound lanes when it collided with the southbound truck.

The driver of the car and a passenger, whose names were not released, were trapped inside the vehicle until North Strabane firefighters extricated them.

One of the occupants was transported by emergency helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital. A landing zone was set up at the DoubleTree Hotel on Racetrack Road.

The other occupant was taken by ambulance to Washington Hospital, firefighters said.

Traffic in the northbound lanes was re-routed onto Conklin Road until the accident scene was cleared.

North Strabane police and firefighters were assisted by South Strabane and Peters Township firefighters. The accident is under investigation.
