Sister-to-Sister summit registration extended
The registration deadline for sixth- and seventh-grade girls to attend the Washington County Sister to Sister Summit was extended to Monday. The 15th annual Summit is scheduled for March 27-28 at Citizens Library in Washington. Part of an international series of Sister to Sister Summits, this overnight conference is sponsored locally by the Washington branches of the American Association of University Women and Business and Professional Women and Outreach Teen and Family Services with support from Citizens Library, Domestic Violence Services of Southwestern Pennsylvania, Washington Health System Teen Outreach and Women’s Business Network.
At the Summit, peer-facilitator led small group discussions and a variety of other activities will address critical areas of concern such as dealing with peer pressure, decision making, creating positive friendships, body image, bullying, personal safety and self-defense and dating and healthy relationships. Team-building activities, “purposeful fun,” refreshments and ample sleep-time will round out the agenda.
Applications may be downloaded at www.sistertosistersummit.org or by contacting Summit co-coordinator Kathy Sabol, AAUW-Washington, at katsabol@comcast.net or 724-225-6710. In addition, copies of the registration form and Summit information were mailed to all high school and middle school guidance offices. No applications will be accepted after Monday and no walk-ins will be permitted. No additional peer facilitator applications are being accepted at this time.
