Central Greene announces registration
Central Greene School District will conduct registration for kindergarten and first grade-eligible students April 28, 29 and 30 at Waynesburg Central Elementary School.
Parents who wish to complete an application for the Community Action Southwest Pre-K program may do so at this time. Representatives from the pre-kindergarten will be present. Classrooms are now in place at Waynesburg Central Elementary School and Waynesburg Central High School.
Central Greene’s policy states any child who will be 5 years old before Sept. 1 may attend kindergarten. Any child who will be 6 years old before the same date may attend first grade.
A child who now is attending kindergarten already is registered for first grade and need not register again.
It is important for parents to register a child for kindergarten or first grade even if they are not certain at this point that they will be sending the child to school.
Please bring proof of birth, a birth certificate, notarized copy of birth certificate, baptismal certificate, copy of baptism if notarized or duly certified and showing date of birth, notarized statement from the parents or another relative indicating the date of birth, or valid passport; immunization records; and proof of residency, a deed, a lease, current utility bill, property tax bill, vehicle registration or department of transportation identification card.
A child cannot be registered without a birth certificate and immunization records.
The school nurse will check all immunization records and will give guidance on physical problems. If a child has any unusual medical conditions or history, a parent should bring the treating physician’s name and address.
The required immunizations for registration are as follows:
• Four D.T. immunizations (with one being on or after the fourth birthday);
• Three polio;
• Two measles, mumps and rubella;
• Three hepatitis B;
• Two chickenpox vaccine-or documented proof of disease or titer level from your physician.
Speech and language therapists and hearing specialists will be testing children’s hearing, speech and language. A vision screening will also take place.
There will be various activity/play centers available for the children who are being registered.
Additionally, guidance counselors, a kindergarten teacher and principals will be available to answer questions.
In order to speed up the process, registration packets may be completed in advance and brought to registration. Packets can be picked up in the elementary school office. Packets will also be available on the day of registration.
Parents are asked to bring their child to Waynesburg Central Elementary School at the date and time listed below. If unable to attend your session, please contact the Waynesburg Central Elementary offices as soon as possible to make an appointment for another time.
