Pittsburgh woman to stand trial in toddler’s death

PITTSBURGH (AP) — A Western Pennsylvania woman has been ordered to stand trial on charges including involuntary manslaughter in the death of her toddler, who was found dead in a room where a morphine pill was missing.

Twenty-five-year-old Sondra Rector of Pittsburgh wept Friday after an Allegheny County judge ordered her to stand trial in the death of 18-month-old Naveah Andiorio, who was found to have opiates in her system after her death in June. Rector is also charged with endangering the welfare of a child and drug counts.

Defense attorney Anthony Borrero unsuccessfully sought dismissal of the manslaughter charge, saying his client hadn’t purchased the pill. He after the hearing that she is “incredibly distraught over the death of her child.

Sixty-two-year-old William Kablach waived a hearing on a reckless endangering charge.
