Ex-NFL star Sharper to plead guilty in Vegas sex assault

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Former NFL star Darren Sharper told a Las Vegas judge he’ll plead guilty to a felony sex assault charge as part of a plea deal in four states that will send him to federal prison for about nine years.
A lawyer for the former all-pro safety appeared Tuesday in a Las Vegas courtroom, while Sharper appeared through an Internet hookup from a courtroom in Los Angeles, where he’s jailed.
The judge scheduled Sharper to plead guilty later Tuesday in Nevada state court to attempted sexual assault. Sentencing will come later.
In separate steps Monday, the 39-year-old Sharper pleaded guilty to sexual assault in Arizona and no contest in California to raping two women he drugged into unconsciousness.
He faces a hearing in New Orleans in the next month.
