HOLBROOK – A Center Township man charged with sexually assaulting a young girl is free on $50,000 bond.

Scottie Jessie James Montgomery, also known as James S. Montgomery, 71, of 635 Claylick Road, Holbrook, was arrested Tuesday evening on 25 counts each of rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, incest, indecent assault, corruption of minors and a single count of endangering the welfare of children.

The alleged victim told state police she was 5 or 6 years old when Montgomery began sexually assaulting her. She said she slept over at his residence and he would come into the room as she slept. Police said the girl told them the acts continued until just shy of her 11th birthday.

Montgomery initially denied the girl’s allegations to state Trooper Joseph Popielarcheck but later admitted sexually assaulting her at least 25 times from 2003 to 2008, according to the criminal complaint.

As a condition of bail, Montgomery is to have no contact with the alleged victim and is prohibited from entering her residence or place of employment.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. April 1 before District Judge Lou Dayich.
