Assault alleged: Charles S. Ward, 45, of 357 Bethel Ridge Road, Avella, will be charged by McDonald police with simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment stemming from an incident Wednesday night at Cowboy’s Bar, 1607 Main St., Burgettstown. He is accused of punching Robert Thiel of Burgettstown. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Gary Havelka.

Disorderly charge: Christopher Horne, 25, of Pittsburgh, was charged by California police with disorderly conduct after he allegedly became disorderly with the borough’s parking secretary at the borough building concerning a bill he received for his vehicle being booted.

Theft, assault charges: Joshua Spires, 30, of Monessen, was arrested Wednesday afternoon by Carroll police on charges of possession of paraphernalia, simple assault, disorderly conduct and retail theft after he allegedly stole items from Giant Eagle, 1300 Country Club Road. Police said they found him with the stolen items and paraphernalia. He was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller and placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.

Threat alleged: Dennis James Kern, 61, of 34 Browntown Road, Cross Creek Township, was arrested early Wednesday by state police after he allegedly threatened to shoot and kill his wife, Carolin Kern. Police said he and his wife got into an argument when he came home intoxicated. Police confiscated two handguns. Kern was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller on charges of terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment. He was placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.

Two injured: Lashaun Bryant, 22, and his passenger, Gary Coleman Jr., both of Washington, were injured when their construction truck was struck by a pickup truck driven by James Kalaski, 58, of Rogersville, Tuesday on Prosperity Pike, Morris Township, state police said. Bryant and Coleman were taken to Washington Hospital. Kalaski will be cited for following too closely.

Driver charged: Melissa Baldwin, 25, of Belle Vernon, was charged by Mt. Pleasant police with driving under the influence of alcohol, aggravated assault while DUI, careless driving, reckless driving and failure to stay in her lane stemming from a March 7 crash at the intersection of Routes 50 and 519. Her passenger, Cassandra Spalding, 25, of Washington, was seriously injured, police said. They said Baldwin’s blood-alcohol content was almost double the 0.08 percent limit presumed for intoxication. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of Senior District Judge Jay Dutton.

Jewelry stolen: Nikita M. Hoberek was charged with receiving stolen property after North Franklin Township police said two gold rings, a gold cross necklace and a platinum wedding band were stolen from her aunt Saturday night. Police said Hoberek, 25, of 2884 Wilson St., North Franklin, was visiting with her aunt at the woman’s Ramsey Road home when the jewelry disappeared. The two gold rings and cross necklace were sold Sunday to a jewelry store inside Washington Crown Center, police said, but the wedding band was not recovered.

Copper stolen: Copper wire was reported stolen Monday from a Murray Energy site off Ridge Road near Hixon Road, Somerset Township, state police said. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-223-5200.

Hydrant hit: Joseph C. Durila, 27, of 304 Sugar Maple Circle, North Franklin Township, will be charged by South Strabane police with DUI after he allegedly was found in his pickup truck with a fire hydrant stuck to the front bumper in a parking lot at 1 Humbert Lane early Tuesday. Police said Durila was asleep in his truck. Police later learned the hydrant was hit near Jefferson Avenue and Third Street in Washington. Police said Durila’s BAC was almost 2 ½ times the 0.08 limit presumed for intoxication

Assault charges: Kyle R. Caldwell, 19, of 356 Jefferson Ave., was arrested Wednesday night by Washington police for allegedly striking his girlfriend, Taylor Chambers, in the head during a confrontation. Two others, Brooke Chambers and Pauline Timlin, also were struck when they tried to stop him, police said. He was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller on three counts of simple assault and placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.

Window broken: A window was broken on a pickup truck owned by Ziegler Tire of Massillon, Ohio, while the truck was parked at 258 W. Wheeling St., Washington police said. The damage was reported Wednesday.

Man assaulted: Chris Holiday, 19, of Washington, told Washington police Wednesday afternoon that he was struck by three people wearing ski masks as he walked in the 800 block of Chartiers Street.
