Organizers of the Waynesburg Sheep and Fiber Festival are now accepting entries for the contests that will a part of the coming festival.

This year, the festival, which celebrates this area’s heritage in the lamb and wool industries, will be celebrated May 16 and 17 at the Greene County Fairgrounds.

The photo contest is accepting entries through April 21. It will include five categories for judging: still life, scenery, people, animals and youth. Money and ribbons will be awarded in each category as well as for a best of show and people’s choice.

Entry forms and contest rules can be found at the photo counters at Walgreens, at the chamber of commerce office in Waynesburg or online at http://www.waynesburgpa.org/sheepandfiber/2015photo.pdf.

The fiber arts contest is accepting entries through May 11. It will include both youth and adult categories for various items that are knit, crocheted or created using other techniques such as felting.

Ribbons and monetary prizes will be awarded in all categories. There will also be a best of show, judges’ choice and people’s choice prizes.

New this year is a separate category for work made with an original pattern.

Any entries so designated will be judged for originality and appropriateness of design in addition to any other category in which the item may be entered.

The contest is a great way to show off and get credit for the hard work and creativity that drives many fiber artists.

The fiber arts contest guidelines and contact information can be found on the entry form at http://www.waynesburgpsheepandfiber/2015fiberarts.pdf.
