1 min read

A Washington man taken into custody recently on a parole detainer was arraigned Tuesday on gun and receiving stolen property charges.

Richard D. Watts, 29, of 210 Sumner Ave., Washington, was taken into custody March 24 in the Red Roof Inn, 1399 W. Chestnut St., Canton Township, when state police served a search warrant.

Police allegedly found two rifles, a shotgun, a revolver, a pistol that was reported as stolen, ammunition, a small amount of suspected heroin, drug paraphernalia and cellphones in Watts’ room.

Watts, who has a previous felony conviction, was charged with five counts of receiving stolen property, five counts of person not to possess firearms, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was arraigned before District Judge David Mark and has been in Washington County jail since his arrest on the parole detainer. Mark set bond at $50,000 on the new charges filed by state police.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 8.
