Area man allegedly beat wife with bat
A Richhill Township man is in Greene County jail after state police said he beat his wife with a baseball bat following an argument Thursday night.
John A. Brogley, 52, of 689 Ackley Creek Road, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment after police said he hit Sally Lee Senay-Brogley with a wooden baseball bat six times.
State police from the Waynesburg barracks were called to Washington Hospital early Friday morning to speak with Senay-Brogley. The woman told police while coming home from a bar around 10 p.m. Thursday, she and her husband got into an argument.
When they reached the home, Senay-Brogley went inside and locked all of the doors, police said. She said Brogley somehow entered the home and approached her on the couch, where she was sitting with a baseball bat. The couple began to fight, and, at some point, Brogley grabbed the bat and began to hit Senay-Brogley, police said. He also pulled her hair, police said.
Police arrested Brogley at his home Friday morning. Investigators did not describe the severity of Senay-Brogley’s injuries.
Brogley was arraigned on the charges by District Judge Lee Watson and taken to jail on $15,000 cash bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 7 at 2:15 p.m.
