WAYNESBURG – A Jefferson man pleaded guilty Friday before Greene County President Judge Farley Toothman to reduced charges in connection with the theft of an all-terrain vehicle and copper wire more than three years ago.

Gerald Eugene Minor, 40, of 183 Neff Road, pleaded guilty to criminal trespass and agricultural trespass on posted property. Charges of theft and receiving stolen property were withdrawn by prosecutors.

On Jan. 26, 2012, Minor and another man stole an ATV and copper wire from a farm on Neff Road.

Responding to the reported theft, Cumberland Township police found Minor and the other man on Air Shaft Road on an ATV carrying a spool of copper wire.

The other man fled on the ATV. Minor stayed at the scene and was found in possession of a pair of wire cutters.

Minor was sentenced to 43 days to one year in jail and given credit for 43 days served. He was determined to be eligible for parole.

He also was fined $500 and ordered to perform 50 hours of community service and pay $1,000 in restitution to the victim.
