Police: Officer shoots suspect in stranger’s basement
YORK, Pa. (AP) — Police say a central Pennsylvania officer shot a suspect in the basement of an apparent stranger after a report of gunfire elsewhere.
The York Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1zN9nIK ) reports that Northern York Regional Police were called Wednesday by a Shrewsbury-area woman who said her brother-in-law was shooting at her husband as both were driving in separate vehicles.
Chief Mark Bentzel said a suburban Conewago Township resident later reported an armed man on her back porch. He said an officer found a basement door open and entered, and after the suspect came down the basement stairs, the two exchanged gunfire.
Bentzel said the suspect ran upstairs and tried to get on a motorcycle in the garage, but the officer tackled him. He was taken to a hospital. His condition wasn’t immediately released.
