Chamber announces scholarship winner
The Waynesburg Area Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund Committee announced the 25th annual scholarship will be awarded to Taylor Crowe of Waynesburg.
Crowe is a home-schooled student in the Central Greene School District. He plans to attend Liberty University to purse a degree in business administration. Crowe, 18, is the son of David and Kellie Crowe of Waynesburg.
The scholarship is presented each year to a Greene County senior who plans to attend a college, university or trade school. It is awarded based on grade point average and a 500 word essay.
Crowe will be presented with the scholarship at the chamber’s May general membership networking luncheon Wednesday, May 27, at Waynesburg University’s Benedum Dining Hall.
In recognition of the 25th anniversary of the scholarship, the chamber increased the amount of the scholarship to $2,500. In addition to the scholarship, Crowe will receive a laptop computer and laptop bag courtesy of John Frownfelter, owner of PCsquared and a custom backpack from Greene County United Way.
This year, 37 applications for the scholarship were received by the chamber.
