Deaths of Pa. woman, grandmother ruled homicide
PITTSBURGH – Authorities say the deaths of a woman and her grandmother found in a Western Pennsylvania home last week have both been ruled homicides.
The Allegheny County medical examiner’s office said Saturday 19-year-old Tionna Banks died of “blunt- and sharp-force trauma” of the head and trunk. Officials said 72-year-old Valorie Crumpton died of blunt-force trauma of the head.
Police found Banks and her grandmother dead two days after Banks missed a social services appointment, prompting a caseworker to report her missing. Police forced their way into the residence after noticing a foul odor and found the bodies.
Authorities have announced that they are searching for Banks’ boyfriend on unrelated assault charges involving the victim last fall. No one has been charged in the slayings.
